#14 - del.icio.us.com
Hmmmm, okay so I think its quite useful for organising bookmarks. It would be good for someone that has alot of bookmarks to organise... I myself, not so much! Im a more simple Librarian, I come in, shelve, serve customers, shelf tidy, do more shelving, check my Web 2.0 (which I might add is way behind at the moment) help out where I can doing manual labour..... but apart from all of that i actually have no real need for del.cio.us.com But... it would be awesome for those who work alot with computers.... i.e computer nerds maybe????

Wiki-galore, what a bore
Okay so its kind of obvious what I think of Wiki...... After going through Flickr and fd's toys Wiki is quite a disappointing website. It lacks colour and witty subtitles which are things that intrigue and entice me. But Wiki websites aren't all bad, they do what they are there for, and that is to inform and also enable wiki-freaks to correct, change or add information.
The Wiki lesson wasn't all a loss for me, I did enjoy the Wiki that was linked to the Princeton Public Library for Book Lovers. I enjoyed the reviews on this site and also the subject index, but I must say that Library Thing does the exact same thing but with colour!

Technology... where's it taking us?
Hmmmmmmmmm..... what a long way we have come with the types of technology that we use today compared to yesterday, can you imagine what we will be using tomorrow???? It's quite exciting and a little bit frightening.... Films such as Terminator scare people into thinking that it is possible machines can and will take over the human race in the future....
I dont have one particular thing I'm interested in, so I thought I would keep my rantings about movies, films & television. Technology there has expanded possibly the most. I can remember when bluescreen was pretty cool and you couldn't tell, but NOW.... well there's cinematography, photography, all these computerised things which make surreal things look so real!!! Soon maybe it'll be so advance we wont ever really have to live in the real world, we could make a virtual fantasy world that'll keep us happy..... who knows? Only time will tell!!!!

Disruptive Art
Okay, so usinig Flickr was quite hard, it took me almost a month to figure out that if I look above the picture that I upload you can find the icon that says.... "blog this" what the heck??? okay well im quite happy that I've finally gotten this pic on to my blog for the world of bloggers to see.... This is the awesome art work that we have on the back of our Library's wall..... awesome dont you think??? The pics of those animated kids on there are actual pictures we took of some of our regulars......
Try out Flickr... but if you get frustrated stop and go back the next day. It quite handy, but I think I'll stick to just uploading straight through the Blog Composition page.

LibraryThing
Well, what can be said about LibraryThing! I reall tell you its "awesome! and that it brightens up my day, but alas, that is not the case. It was alright going through it and I found that it was very helpful in putting all the books that I love in one website. I like the fact that I'm able to checkout other reviews by people who read similar books to me, but mostly I like that if I want to try something different I can just take it from their libraries. Stink though, that alot of the books we cant find in Manukau Libraries.... So.... just a call to those who are in purchasing, checkout LibraryThing, they got some cool titles: http://www.LibraryThing.com/catalog/ShelbyHernandez

#6 - PLAY TIME!
I like that Play time, reminds me of the 15 minutes break you get in School to have morning tea, but where most of us tried to fit in a few quick games of marble, bottle tops, elastics or whatever trend was in at that time OR where you would try and do your detention of picking up rubbish so you could get your full 40 minutes to play during the lunch break.
So, when I saw this of Bart Simpson it was fate that I put it on as my blog pic. If you want to check out more image generators checkout http://addletters.com/

#4 - RSS & Newsreaders
Okay, so that wasn't as simple as I would have liked it to be, but hey thats just me being lazy! So, Im still trying to workout the glitches of bloglines but I think I have it sussed now! But hey its just my second day of checking out what blogging and bloglines out, so Im guessing I'll get better as the days pass!
To be quite honest, its quite addictive being on here trying to figure out what and how I could make my page look better or unique - This could possibly be the new trend, move over Bebo and Facebook, Blogspots the next big thing. Im learning quite a lot of things that I thought I already knew and bloglining is one of them, so if you want to checkout whats new and improved in Shelby's interests checkout: http://bloglines.com/blog/Shel-by

Beginners first blog
DAY ONE:
So, where do I start? Day one: My first day of blogging was an interesting one. To be honest I wasn't very interested in this blogging business, but, the boss asked me to do this and I thought that I would take one for the team and attempt to get this done!
So far, so good! I found getting on, setting up and registering was easy. The hardest part was thinking up a name for my blog. This first entry was also a mission to start, I actually started writing this blog at about 2.30pm, but found that I really had nothing to say. It is now 6.03pm and still Im not quite sure what Im meant to be blogging about.
I've gotten a few ideas from the patrons, the most frequent idea being "LOVE", a topic I have no real interest in and lack alot of experience. Hopefully tomorrow will bring better ideas and less love struck patrons who can give me something more interesting to write about.
